“Engage in genre analysis and multimodal composing to explore effective writing across disciplinary contexts and beyond.”

For each genre we covered in this class, we utilized genre analysis to review student samples. This was really helpful in strengthening our own writing in this class. Many of these student samples are submissions from previous classes and analyzing the strengths and weaknesses if each submission helps us understand what aspects we should improve upon ourselves when writing our own submissions.

For each genre analysis, we review student samples and reflect on the conventions of the genre they are conveying (Figure 1). We determine whether or not the sample contains aspects of the genre and discuss what needs to be improved upon.
