“Negotiate your own writing goals and audience expectations regarding conventions of genre, medium, and rhetorical situation.”

In our assignments, we utilized this Course Learning Outcomes in the form of rhetorical elements. For each genre, we consider the audience, exigence, purpose, and stance; these elements change depending on the content of our writing and who we are writing to. Medium and genre are also considered as we’re considering how we are conveying our writing.

We utilize reflections in each of the four major assignments in this course (Figure 1). We reflect on the rhetorical elements we utilized such as audience, exigence, purpose, stance, genre, and medium.
