One important rhetorical element in writing is the media/design of our work. In our assignments, when writing to an audience, we also have to consider how we are conveying our writing to said audience in the form of media. There are multiple ways to communicate your work to an audience, such as digital, print, oral, or multimodal. Digital media is when your work is presented to your audience in a digital format, such as an email, slideshow presentation, etc. Print media is when your work is presented on paper to your audience. Oral media is when your work is verbally communicated to your audience. And multimodal media is when your work is presented in multiple formats, which could be a combination of the aforementioned medias.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the entirety of our class was spent on remote learning. Because of this conditions, all of our assignments were submitted online using CUNY Blackboard. Thus, for the entirety of the course, we have only been utilizing digital media. However, we sometimes do utilize oral media alongside digital media when we are presenting to the class, such as presenting our engineering proposals (Figure 1).
